Man arrested over alleged pensioner assault

Tuesday 07 May 2019

A man in his 50s has been arrested and charged with grave and criminal assault following an alleged attack on an elderly gentleman.

Police are now wanting to speak to three women who may have information connected with the alleged assault, said to have taken place on 1 May.

The three women were said to have been at the Royal Yacht where they met the two men involved and were with them until closing time on Tuesday 30 April.

The trio then left the hotel with the older of the two men and walked with him up Mulcaster Street towards Colomberie at 02:15.

It is believed that the elderly man knew his alleged attacker – a 51-year-old man who has been charged with grave and criminal assault and has since been released on bail.

The Police wish to speak to the three women to aid their investigation into the reported assault on the 74-year-old which is alleged to have taken place at a private address in town in the early hours of Wednesday 1 May.
