Woman fined for crashing car into wall while over legal alcohol limit

Thursday 21 March 2024

A 48-year-old woman who crashed her car into a wall while over the legal alcohol limit has been fined £2,400 and banned from the roads for 18 months.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that Marlena Florence was found to have 62 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – against the legal maximum of 35 micrograms – when she crashed her black BMW on La Grande Route de la Cote on 18 February.

No other vehicles were involved and no-one was injured, but Florence’s car was written off and the road was blocked for a time.

Florence admitted the charge of drinking and driving.

The Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, ordered her to retake the driving test after the ban has elapsed.
