A Jersey university student has earned a £1,000 scholarship for "outstanding academic achievement" in the first year of her Psychology with Fine Art degree.
19-year-old Katie Bradshaw, of St Clement, was given the recognition by the University of Worcester, where she is now completing her second year of study.
The former Beaulieu girl received the recognition from the university's Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Sarah Greer, at a special ceremony.
Professor Greer said: “Our students work incredibly hard so it is wonderful to be able to recognise and reward their achievements and sustained commitment to their studies during their time at Worcester. We are proud of all our students who earned an award this year and hope this will inspire them to further academic success."

She said that the university has found that winning a scholarship or prize further improves their students’ job prospects on graduation, as well as providing practical financial support and encouragement.
"These academic scholarships are supported by generous philanthropists, including the University’s distinguished Honorary Fellows, and many successful graduates of the University, and we are very grateful to all our benefactors, whose generosity makes such a difference to the lives of our students," Professor Greer added.
Ms Bradshaw said the University of Worcester was one of only two universities in the UK that she considered as they both offered a combination of Art and Psychology. After visiting both, she said she knew straight away Worcester was the place for her. "Everything from the people I met to the beautiful city made me want to come and study here," Ms Bradshaw said.
"My first year at university was an amazing experience, and receiving an academic scholarship has been a lovely and unexpected bonus," she added. "I feel encouraged to keep working hard throughout my second year."
