Young people hospitalised after "potentially lethal" MDMA

Tuesday 29 August 2017

Several young people were rushed to hospital over the weekend after taking a "potentially lethal" batch of MDMA.

In a post on social media, Police warned islanders over the so-called party drug, which can in some circumstances be fatal.

"Please remember not only are these drugs illegal, they can cause serious illness or even death," a spokesperson wrote.

It's the latest of a number of drug warnings this summer following the death of an 18-year-old shortly after taking the class A substance.

Police also issued an alert regarding blue and yellow pills branded as 'IKEA', which were said to be stronger than usual, and a later batch featuring the Barcelona FC crest.

Anyone concerned about the pills is advised to seek medical attention.
