A youth has admitted having cannabis in his bedroom – but claimed he had forgotten it was there.
Police went to the home of the teenager – who cannot be named due to his age – on 3 February 2023 and found the cannabis in a cabinet in his room.
At the time the teenager was already on probation for another drugs offence.
Advocate Lauren Taylor, prosecuting, told the Youth Court: "He said he had forgotten that it was there, and he had stopped smoking cannabis."
The court was told that the probation order had another six months to run. Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris imposed a binding over order to run at the same time.
He told the youth: "You know that cannabis is illegal. If in the next six months you commit another offence you will find yourself back here."
He added: "We think carrying on the probation order is the right thing to do. Please prove us right."
