If you haven’t already handed in your completed tax form, you’ve got until 6 pm today or you’re going to get a £250 fine.
Earlier this week, the Income Tax department said that with days to go, there were still 19,000 of us with outstanding tax forms – even though the forms have been out for five months.
The deadline for tax forms is 6 pm on the last Friday of the month of May.
By last Friday, there were 19,000 of 52,000 forms still outstanding, and the Income Tax department is putting on more hands to make sure that everyone can get their forms in on time.
Since 2004, there’s been a system of fines in place – in a typical year, around 3,200 people miss the deadline and end up paying an extra £800,000 in fines.
The Income Tax department warned that a delay in the post is not a good enough excuse to get out of the £250 fine.
Anyone who needs a replacement form or some help should get in touch with the department at Cyril Le Marquand House on 440300.
