Get your glow on! Light-up Zumba event returns for sixth year

Saturday 20 January 2024

Islanders of all ages are once again being invited to take part in the annual Zumba Glow fundraising fitness class next weekend to raise money for local sexual and domestic abuse charities.

The fitness class will raise money and awareness for Jersey Action Against Rape and Freeda (formerly Jersey Women's Refuge), and is set to take place on Saturday 27 January at Le Rocquier School.

Organised by the women’s organisation Soroptimist International Jersey and supported by Jersey Freemasons, the fitness dance class will be led by Zumba instructor Claudia Moreno.

Everyone is encouraged to dress in their brightest colours for the event and, for a small donation, glow make-up will be available for those who want an extra sparkle.

Graham Spence, Head of Jersey Freemasons, said: “Jersey Freemasons are thrilled to sponsor this brilliant event once again and provide our support to charities which work hard to ensure women’s rights in Jersey are protected.

"We hope everyone has a great time at the event.”

Freeda said: “We love this event. We see people of all ages coming to Zumba with us.

"At our event last year, we had children as young as four dancing away for the whole event.

"We are once again grateful to the Jersey Freemasons and Soroptimists for their support.”

JAAR added: “We are thrilled to once again be partnering with the Soroptimists and Freeda, raising money for our important causes, whilst having lots of fun with family and friends!

"A big thank you to the Jersey Freemasons for their continued support of this awesome event. We can’t wait to get our glow on!”
