Kevin Alway is the Operations and Communications Lead for Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey.
Originally from Abingdon in Oxfordshire, Kevin moved to Jersey in 2017, having worked for global fashion brand Superdry for nearly a decade.
While he can be often found using his downtime to relax at The Lounge, Macmillan Jersey's charity book café, there are other things Kevin likes to do to when he needs a breather, as he shared with Bailiwick Wellbeing...
...run. You can typically find me running along the front first thing in the mornings.
Running gives me a fantastic sense of clarity, great ‘balcony time’ to asses how I’m going to come at the day and peace – when life becomes hectic. I’m very fortunate to run with the incredible Rock n Road runners, who are a lovely bunch of people to sweat and pant with!
I'm currently training for Jersey Marathon – my first 26.2-miler!
...sushi.
Very rarely can you dabble with a conveyor belt of food and come off semi-unscathed, but I adore sushi.
We’re so lucky here in Jersey to have such high-quality fish on our doorstep, and I’ll visit my favorite sushi spot (JEJU in the fish market) a few times a month.
I’m partial to a pint of the black stuff, especially when the rugby is on.
But I’m being a good boy currently, and am off alcohol all together.
...my chill-out playlist on Spotify.
It's usually 808 State, Morcheeba, The Beloved – late 80s or early 90s electronic music. Either that or Melodic Death Metal (genuinely).
...something dark yet humorous (similar to myself).
Favorite titles are ‘John Dies at the End’, ‘The Damned Busters’ and ‘The Lucifer Wars’.
