The States Assembly & Constitution Committee were last month asked by Policy & Resource to consider dates in late September or early October, following updated Public Health advice and an easing in lockdown restrictions as Guernsey reported no new cases for more than a month.
Sacc President Neil Inder told States members last month that 7 October was being worked up by officers as the committee’s favoured option.

In an email last night, he told colleagues that those proposals had been finalised.
“Last time I wrote to you on the subject I committed to ‘as soon as we know, you’ll know’. Today the Committee reviewed the final draft of its policy letter. The date we will be recommending to the States will be for a General Election to be held on October 7th.”
The Public Health advice behind that decision will be included as appendices to the committee’s policy letter.
The Policy Letter is due to be signed off on Wednesday and submitted on Thursday this week.
