The licences are issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing team who now want to hear from anyone interesting in applying to take on the fourth licence.
Applicants would need to already have a Public Service Vehicle Permit, or be willing to immediately apply for one. The vehicle you’d use to operate the service will need to be fully wheelchair accessible and meet other strict criteria to meet mandatory specifications.
The applicant will also need to attend a half-day’s training course so they are able to safely and properly offer lifts to disabled passengers and others with additional needs.

The successful applicant will be selected based on how well they score in areas including:
- The quality of marketing plan or proposals submitted.
- Any experience in assisting or caring for persons with a disability.
- Any proposals for additional or imaginative ways in which an applicant can demonstrate that the service will be helpful for persons with a disability.
- The hours and number of days that they propose to have the vehicle available.
