Residents and businesses are being asked what they think about introducing a minimum wage in Alderney.

The Policy & Finance Committee recently launched a Minimum Wage Survey so that views can be shared. It closes on Monday 9 February 2026.

The survey will collate “objective, anonymous data from employers, employees, and other members of the community” so P&F can look at support or opposition to bringing in new legislation around wages.

It will also be used to set a benchmark for employment related‑ data in Alderney, said the States.

P&F said the survey was designed to reflect the different perspectives within the various employment sectors and those filling it in will be guided through tailored questions depending on whether they identify as an employer, an employee, or another stakeholder.

Jeannie Cameron, Chair of the Policy & Finance Committee, said the survey “represents an important step in understanding how a minimum wage could affect Alderney’s economy, workforce, and businesses”.

“It is essential that any consideration of a minimum wage for Alderney is informed by clear, objective evidence,” she explained.

“This survey provides an important opportunity for both employers and employees to tell us about their experiences and views, and I would strongly encourage everyone with an interest in this issue to take part.”

The survey is online HERE and hard copies are available on request from the General Office. Surveys must be completed, and returned by the end of Monday 9 February.
