Anti-GST campaigners in Alderney are organising a protest to coincide with Guernsey’s own demonstration against the proposed new tax.
Organiser Bentt Bengtsson said the protest – at BBs Wine Bar in St Anne on Sunday 12 July – would start at 12:00 to coincide with a similar protest in Guernsey’s capital.
The organisers are hoping to “go live” with their counterparts in Guernsey at 13:00 through a video link.
Mr Bengtsson previously confronted Guernsey’s Chief Minister during a recent trip to Alderney, calling GST a “death tax”.
Guernsey’s anti-GST protest will happen in the Market Square, St Peter Port, between 12:00 and 15:00 on Sunday 12, with an all-day, follow-up protest outside the Royal Court on Wednesday 15 July.
The Guernsey organisers said: “The all-day protest means you can join us whenever you are able, whether it’s in the morning, the afternoon, the evening, or for the whole day.
“Together, we can make our voices heard – say ‘no’ to GST!”
