Beatles Picnic

Join Guernsey Arts within the grounds of Candie Gardens on 8 August for a free community event between 5pm – 7pm to mark the 8 August 1963. It’s not John, Paul, George and Ringo, but Nat, Matt, Scott and Ewan who will be bringing you the one-off show, ‘1963 Revisited’, live from Candie Gardens, following in the steps of the Fab Four all those years ago.

These Beatle enthusiasts and talented musicians will be recreating The Beatles’ Guernsey set song-for-song in a special early evening performance, with plenty of extras. This is your invite to come and join in the picnic party on your way home from work!

The event gets underway with background music from 5pm, with the band starting between half 5 and 6pm. Why not grab a picnic and stop by after work to enjoy some nostalgia in the (hopefully!) sun? Bring your dancing shoes, some warmed-up vocal chords and your cameras to capture your best moments.

‘Looking Deeper’ is an exhibition by renowned artist Rosanne Guille at The Folk and Costume Museum, Saumarez Park. Taking place from Tuesday 1 August to Friday 8 September, the museum is open 10am – 5pm seven days a week. Admission is free and the Museum is access-friendly.

Rosie grew up in Sark where her interest in painting was first sparked. In the 1990’s, she studied Natural History Illustration & Ecological Studies at Bournemouth, followed by the Royal College of Art.

Rosie is best known for her work with the International non-profit organisation, the Artists for Nature Foundation. In 2011/12 she organised ‘Art for the Love of Sark’ a project which brought 20 renowned landscape and wildlife artists to work in Sark to highlight the Island’s unique way of life and its fragility through film, book and exhibitions.

In 2019, Rosie moved to Guernsey where she is inspired by the stunning nearby west coast beaches and headlands. She has used this fresh start to try new mediums and now works almost solely in oil ‘en plein air’ (outdoors) responding to the changing light and colours. In November 2022, she exhibited in the Greenhouse Gallery alongside Deborah Grice.
