The flights from Guernsey and Jersey will be operated by FlyDirect’s partner airline BA CityFlyer, a subsidiary of British Airways, which will use one of its Embraer 190 jets.

Flights to Majorca take around 2 hours, while those to Malaga will take around 2 hours 30 minutes.

Islanders will be able to travel abroad without having to stop off at a UK airport and will also be able to book inclusive holiday packages.

“It’s no secret that travelling through major airports such as Gatwick has become increasingly trying for Channel Islanders, and the added concern of Covid-19 has made some reconsider whether to travel,” said C.I. Travel Group Managing Director Robert Mackenzie.

“Islanders can feel secure knowing that they’re travelling with a regulated and well-established provider with extensive experience of providing exceptional customer service.”

The tour operator’s ‘Covid-19 Refund Promise’ exists in case border restrictions or Foreign Office advice changes and they are unable to operate the flights as planned.
