The payments will be made on Thursday instead.
“We have fixed the issue, but unfortunately the payments will now arrive in the bank accounts tomorrow instead,” said Ed Ashton, Director of Operations.
“The payments relate to long-term sickness and parental benefits such as the new-born care allowance and parental allowance.”
The new-born care allowance can be claimed two weeks after the birth of a child by whichever parent is taking time off work to care for their baby.
The allowance can be transferred between parents if caring responsibilities change.
Parental allowance is payable for up to 26 weeks to a parent who takes time off work to care for a child they have adopted.
“I apologise for this 24-hour delay in payments being made,” said Mr Ashton.
“If anyone is in a position of hardship as a result, please contact Social Security on 01481 222507.”
