Jason Mackie was sentenced in the Magistrate’s Court for various offences after drink driving his boss’s car.

Police were alerted to Mackie on the 14 November when he took a Blue Ford Focus from the Carlton Hotel, where he was living at the time.

He was nearly double the drink drive limit when a squad car found him in the Forest. He refused to pull over when officers put on their sirens, and he led them on a chase through the lanes.

In the process Mackie ran a yellow line, hit another car, and u-turned to try and avoid being pulled over. Defence Advocate Phoebe Cobb said he had simply panicked.
