TV chef Ching-He Huang MBE will return to the island this autumn to support the fundraising efforts of Guernsey Community Savings and offer a cooking tutorial for inmates of Guernsey Prison.
The award winning chef and author of 11 books will host a charity dinner at China Red on 18 October – a day after she visits Les Nicolles
It’s her third visit to the island to support charity work and education, which has included visits to students at the Guernsey Institute and GROW crew members.
Proceeds from tickets and sales of Ms Huang’s cookbook will support GCS, which is in its tenth year helping islanders overcome financial and social exclusion.
Peter Neville, founder and chair of GCS, said “the gala dinner will be an unforgettable evening with delicious food and great company.

“Ching brings such warmth and humanity to everything she does… in the Year of the Snake, which is all about new beginnings, it seemed right for her to visit Guernsey Prison which does such a great job.”
Ms Huang added: “I am delighted to be returning to Guernsey to support GCS in its charitable efforts to help support those who fall on hard economic times.
“This Year of the Snake is a symbol of renewal and fresh beginnings, it serves as an inspiration for hope, that individually it is never too late to pursue a noble path, and collectively, communities can unite to overcome challenges and rise stronger together for peace and prosperity.”
GCS’s day-to-day operations are mainly funded by Guernsey’s clearing banks, following an agreement reached in March this year, but the charity still relies on fundraising to reach out to more people who have been financially excluded.
Two tables remain for the gala dinner which can be booked in full or in part for a four course meal including champagne for £170 per person.
