Jersey marathon organisers are urgently seeking 40 extra volunteers to help marshal the 26-mile course next weekend.

The 20th anniversary of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon is set to welcome thousands of runners to the start line on Sunday 5 October.

But organisers are “urgently” seeking 40 additional volunteer course marshals to ensure the event can run safely and smoothly.

Volunteers do not require any previous experience, but need to have between two and six hours free on Sunday 5 October.

A full briefing and a packed lunch will be provided, along with transportation to and from St Helier and the course.

Organisers said: “Course marshals are at the heart of the running action, guiding and supporting the participants as they move along the marathon course.

“The positive presence of course marshals will not only motivate the runners but will also contribute to the safety and overall experience of one of the island’s biggest community and fundraising events.”

Those able to support the event on Sunday 5 October are asked to register as a course marshal online or by emailing info@jersey-marathon.com.
