This review, which will be taking place throughout the rest of the year and some of 2019, is an “important and exciting opportunity” for islanders to be involved in the shaping of future Learning Disability services.

To mark the launch of this review, ADS are inviting the public to a pop up café at the Professor Shaw Community Centre tomorrow, on Thursday 6 September.

Anyone who has an interest in services for adults with learning disabilities can come along between 11:30 and 14:00 to hear from Jim Blair, Consultant Learning Disability Nurse. There will be a presentation at 12:30 to explain why the review is happening and how it will be conducted. There will also be live music and food for attendees.

Service Development and Transition Co-ordinator Will Jones said: “This review is part of the States of Guernsey Disability and Inclusion Strategy. We really want people with learning disabilities and their families to be involved so that the services we are shaping for the future meet the needs of the population.

There is no charge for the event but Beacon’s Café – which helps people with work skills and provides high quality food for visitors to the Oberlands Centre – will be selling food and drinks.
