The number of people visiting Guernsey on a cruise ship is dropping off massively – while more people are choosing to visit the island on their own personal boats.
The two sectors are monitored as part of wider data collation within the tourism sector.
The latest data, published by the States last week, shows how many people visited the island during the second quarter of this year.

Compared to last year, and the year before, Guernsey’s cruise liner sector appears to be in terminal decline.
While 11,982 people came to Guernsey on a cruise ship between April and June this year that number is 35% lower than last year and 63% lower than spring 2023.
By contrast, the number of people visiting the Bailiwick aboard their own private boat has increased both year on year and compared to two years ago.
7,309 visitors travelled to Guernsey on a yacht in Q2 2025 – almost two thirds of the total number of passengers aboard the 26 cruise ships that stopped in St Peter Port during April, May, and June this year.
The number of yachts stopping in St Peter Port Harbour has increased by 1,300 or 22% in a year, and by nearly 50% compared to two years ago.
