Guernsey Police believe a cyclist may have been struck by a load of saw dust that fell from the back of a lorry just after midday last Friday as both made their way past Salerie Corner.

The HGV was travelling south towards the Weighbridge Roundabout, past Salerie Corner, when the large quantity of saw dust fell onto the road and shared pedestrian and cycle path, at around 12:10.

This resulted in significant disruption to traffic in the area for some time, said Guernsey Police.

CCTV shows that a cyclist had stopped by the southern exit of Salerie Corner, and appears to have been struck by part of the load as it fell. Officers hope someone will have witnessed this or the lorry shedding its load.

Any witnesses to this incident, and in particular the cyclist that had stopped, should contact PC 174 Potter on 222 222 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
