smear test correct
The Committee for Health and Social Care has confirmed there has been a delay in some women receiving necessary treatment and have today apologised for that.

The apology came after a woman posted her story on social media, asking for any other women with similar experiences to contact her.

Many women replied to Jess Simon with similar stories of delays in receiving results and being referred for treatment.

HSC released a statement today, confirming ‘that there has been a delay in women receiving treatment for abnormal cervical screening test results, due to a problem with a piece of equipment.’

The Committee said;

“This meant that some patients were waiting longer than usual for treatment, and HSC apologises to them and acknowledges that this must have been a very worrying time.

“New equipment was brought to the island free of charge by the supplier to ensure continuity of service was maintained as much as possible. It is now in place and since then MSG has contacted patients on the waiting list, in order of clinical urgency, to clear that backlog.”
