Businesses and other private sector organisations who want to run the Digital Greenhouse are being invited to put in their proposals.

Economic Development (ED) opened its tender process this week, after announcing it planned to close the ‘innovation incubator’ in August.

An ED said “several businesses and organisations” had “come forward with ideas for the future of the service” since then.

“The aim is for some of its existing services to continue at no cost to the public, alongside additional commercial services that give entrepreneurs the best possible support.”

Despite wanting to reduce the burden on taxpayers, ED spokesperson said there could be grant funding for “some ‘essential services’ to entrepreneurs, particularly those supporting new business start-ups”.

Interested businesspeople should apply through the States of Guernsey’s e-tendering portal, and should email info@digitalgreenhouse.com afterwards to confirm their registration details.

The closing date is 9 November and bidding is free.

Anyone with questions should email procurement@gov.gg.
