It promised to give people access to Disney exclusive programmes like High School Musical and the Mandalorian.

But when the platform announced its preorder deal for the UK, people in Guernsey found they still couldn’t access the website.
Locals trying to partake in the deal were told Disney Plus is not available in your country.

Express reached out to Disney’s UK press office on 24 February to ask whether the service would be being made available in the Channel Islands, and was told the message had been passed on to the Disney Plus team. Since then, Express has not heard back, despite having pressed for a reply several times.
This isn’t the first time islanders have had trouble with technology being ring fenced. Users of Android will know they have to sometimes use VPNs to buy apps, and Apple users will have struggled in the past with putting their address down as in the island. More recently, Amazon Pantry has been presenting issues for people using local addresses.
Whether Disney Plus’ block on the islands will lift when it goes live in the UK is yet to be seen, but for now, Disney is remaining schtum on the issue.
