A 17-year-old actress from Jersey is set to play David Tennant’s daughter in the second season of Disney+ series Rivals.
Amelie Child Villiers, daughter of the Earl of Jersey, will play Beatrice Baddingham in the British period comedy-drama adapted from the 1988 novel by Dame Jilly Cooper.
David Tennant’s real-life daughter Olive will also appear in the show as Amelie’s on-screen sister Camilla Baddingham.
Amelie told Express: “Working with David, Olive and many other actors on Rivals has been an incredible experience.
“The cast are all incredibly friendly and the crew as well. I am very grateful for the opportunity.”
The teenager previously appeared in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power television series, and most recently played a younger version of Rebecca Ferguson’s character in Apple TV+ show Silo.
Amelie’s mother Marianne Child-Villiers celebrated the news on social media.
“We are so proud of our daughter,” she wrote.
Amelie also met Queen Camilla, a friend of the late Jilly Cooper, who visited the set of the show.
Rivals is an adaptation of the bestselling book series following the lives of residents of the fictional village of Rutshire in the Cotswolds during the 1980s.
The Rutshire Chronicles are estimated to have sold between 11 and 12 million copies in the UK, with a surge in sales following the release of the first season of the television adaptation in October 2024.
Season 2 of Rivals is expected to be released on Disney+ next year.
