In case you missed it… Guernsey’s iconic Boxing Day Dip will celebrate a major milestone this year, with islanders set to plunge into the sea for the 25th annual Skipton Boxing Day Dip at Cobo Bay.

The event, which is sponsored by Skipton International and has grown into one of the island’s best-known festive traditions, has seen thousands of people brave the cold each Boxing Day over the past quarter of a century, many in fancy dress, in a show of community spirit and generosity.

Organisers say the dip is “more than just a festive swim” but a “vital fundraiser for the Guernsey Cheshire Home”.

Marking the anniversary, organisers said: “For 25 years, islanders have gathered on Boxing Day to embrace the cold in a powerful display of community spirit. Join us this year for a momentous milestone – the 25th Annual Guernsey Boxing Day Dip – and be part of a cherished tradition that warms the heart, no matter how chilly the water.

“…The sight of Cobo Bay teeming with thousands of participants, many in spectacular fancy dress, embodies the incredible camaraderie and generosity of our island.”

Skipton added that last year’s dip once again highlighted the strength of Guernsey’s community, with individuals, families and local businesses taking part.

“Let’s make our 25th anniversary the biggest and best yet,” the statement said.

Among those taking part this year is Dean Hollingsworth, who is set to bring a touch of sci-fi history to this year’s dip by resurrecting a character from the archives of Doctor Who lore… Find out more here.
