Having won an army of supporters across the Bailiwick, Dr Brink has seen demand for her skills grow – both within the Pathology lab and outside it.

Some people had suggested she could put her soothing and reassuring voice to good use through audio books. 

She, along with the help of the States of Guernsey’s Communications team, responded to that this week, on World Book Night.

“We have heard loud and clear how much you love, respect and admire our Director of Public Health, Dr Brink,” wrote a spokesperson for the States, “and we couldn’t think of anyone better to read us a story – and definitely no-one with a more calm and soothing voice.”

The video has been viewed more than 18,000 times on Facebook alone since it was posted on Thursday evening. 

Dr Brink’s popularity has been demonstrated in other ways this week too – along with the other members of the Civil Contingency Authority who have been leading the Bailiwick through the pandemic.

States Chief Executive Paul Whitfield, Health and Social Care President Heidi Soulsby, Policy and Resources President Gavin St Pier, Dr Nicola Brink and Dr Peter Rabey, were all immortalised in Lego earlier this week. 

Other fans have been getting crafty, with a knitted version of the St Pier and Brink double-act. 

It’s not clear who knitted the pair, as the pictures have been shared multiple times across various social media platforms. 

We have spotted a few additions to the group too, with a suggestion more are coming. 

There’s also been one popular image which has been circulating for the last couple of weeks, having been made by someone earlier in the lockdown.
