One of the main roads into St Peter Port was closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon, after an emergency cable fault disrupted the road in St Peter Port.
Guernsey Electricity Limited (GEL) discovered a “low-voltage cable” fault near Choi Lee’s Takeaway, on Le Bordage, a States’ spokesperson said.
GEL staff and contractors dug up the road across both lanes to isolate and repair the fault, restoring power supplies to affected customers.
The excavation is due to be back-filled on Monday morning, with the road then resurfaced.
It is expected to reopen either on Monday evening or by 06:00 on Tuesday morning.
Drivers approaching the southern side of St Peter Port from Ruettes Brayes or Prince Albert’s Road are being diverted via Colborne Road and Val des Terres.
