The Assembly will meet later this month to debate the Funding and Investment Plan and the Capital Portfolio. The result of those debates may lead to a deprioritisation of the Education Programme, however ESC explains that the tender process is simply part of the existing timeline.
If the States were to vote against continuing with the Programme ‘as is’ the tender process would stop before a contract is agreed.
‘We are of course conscious that the timing of this tender going live, before this month’s States debate on the Funding & Investment Plan and Capital Portfolio, isn’t ideal as we are not sure whether the funding will be in place to progress,” said the Director of Education Nick Hynes, who is also the Senior Responsible Officer for the Transforming Education Programme.
“However, the demolition phase of the programme has been planned for some time and continuing this preparatory work as planned is crucial if we are to maintain a grip on expected timelines.
“This is just the initial tender exercise, no contract will be signed and the process will stop if the States decides against funding the project.”
