Inter-island ferry travel is about to see a significant change, with a new partnership between Brittany Ferries and Islands Unlimited.
The deal effectively brings the Islands Unlimited service under the umbrella of Brittany Ferries, with the latter now marketing and selling tickets for the local firm’s Guernsey–Jersey route.
This means you’ll be able to book the local foot-passenger service directly through the Brittany Ferries website and reservation system.
The service runs up to five days per week from March through to October.
Two-centre holidays
Islands Unlimited has been well received since it was first launched last summer, with the ferry company saying it had aimed for “dependability” in its first full season.
Brittany Ferries said the move allowed for “two-centre holidays”, making it easier for tourists to visit both of the largest Channel Islands in one trip.
Both companies were part of an inter-island ferry group set up at the end of last year, which excluded Jersey’s operator DFDS.
Smaller islands
Brittany Ferries has also indicated it isn’t stopping there, with its eyes set on the smaller islands in the Channel Islands.
Paul Acheson, Group Director of Sales and Marketing at Brittany Ferries, described the deal as a “practical and workable solution” to boost local tourism and inter-island links.
He said: “We are not standing still and are keen bring the islands of the bailiwick closer together, by teaming up with the local ferry operators serving Herm, Sark and Alderney.
“This will enable through services from the UK and France and help strengthen the regional transport network around the Channel Islands.”

Chad Murray, Islands Unlimited’s Managing Director, said the partnership would allow the company to “grow with confidence”.
Mr Murray said: “Last summer demonstrated the demand for a dependable inter-island service, and this year represents our first full season of operations as we build on that early success.
“Reliability is at the heart of what we do and partnering with Brittany Ferries allows us to grow with confidence, reach a wider audience and provide a service that passengers can trust throughout the season.”
