A St Peter Port hotel has relaunched with a new name, refreshed decor, and a rebranded restaurant and bar.

The Duke – formerly the Duke of Richmond – unveiled its new design and brand recently, along with its reimagined hospitality area, ‘The Dax’.

A spokesperson said the new bar and restaurant was created around the “simple idea [that] hospitality should feel effortless”, with “less formality and more warmth”.

Charlie Walker, Managing Director of owners Little Big Group, said, “We wanted to create something that feels current and welcoming, while keeping the quality and service our guests expect.”

“The Dax gives people a place they can return to throughout the day, whether that’s for a morning coffee, a long lunch or an evening out.

The menu featured Guernsey seafood, alongside “seasonal plates designed for sharing and lingering”.

“Hand-dived scallops, freshly picked crab and house-made pastries”, along with a “refined dessert selection” and specialty coffees made the The Duke “a true all-day destination”, the spokesperson said.

The launch of ‘The Dax’ marked “the first phase of a broader, phased refinement”, intended to “strengthen the hotel’s position within Guernsey’s hospitality landscape”, they said.

The investment sent a “strong signal about confidence in the island’s tourism and leisure economy”.

“As visitor expectations continue to rise, projects like this play a vital role in ensuring Guernsey remains competitive, distinctive and forward-looking.”
