Brittany Ferries says forward bookings for this coming summer are higher than last year as demand continues to grow from people wanting to sail to and from Guernsey.

Based on data available at the end of last week, the ferry firm said reservations for the coming summer season were a third higher than last year.

60,880 passengers have booked to sail on a Brittany Ferries service to or from Guernsey between now and October 2026, compared to 45,713 in the same period in 2025.

The booking data relates to people traveling between Guernsey, Poole, Portsmouth, and Saint Malo for journeys up to 31 October.

Brittany Ferries said this all means its market share on ferry services to the Channel Islands now stands at 48%.

At the end of last summer the ferry firm said its market share was 55%. The final set of statistics – to make a direct comparison year-on-year will not be available until after this year’s peak season is over.

Christophe Mathieu, Chief Executive of Brittany Ferries, welcomed the interim results though, saying it is all looking very positive.

“I am delighted that the strong growth we achieved in our first year of operations is continuing into our second season,” he said.

“These excellent forward-booking figures reflect the effectiveness of our extensive marketing activity in both the UK and France during the quieter months and represent positive news for the tourism industry in the Bailiwick.

“They also demonstrate the growing appeal of Guernsey as a destination and the confidence passengers have in our services as we look ahead to 2026.”
