A digital theatre production that follows the German Occupation through the eyes of a child will be screened for free at L’Ancresse later this month.
‘The Child’s Fear’, written and directed by Billy Le Page, follows Philip as he reflects on his childhood experiences during the German Occupation of Guernsey.
Mr Le Page said the filmed show “should be seen by all generations as it tells the story of the occupation at its truth from the living people who experienced it”.
“I really hope people enjoy it and understand what life was like during the German Occupation especially the younger ones,” he added.
The story explores fear, uncertainty, family and survival, and was inspired by the memories of Eustace Le Cheminant.
Originally performed as part of the 76th Guernsey One Act Play Festival, the production was filmed and will receive an exclusive screening at The Kiosk at L’Ancresse on Saturday 22 August.
Bluegrass and BBQ
Facade Films & Shows said the event will bring together the team behind the production while giving audiences another opportunity to experience the story.
The evening features a Q&A with the director and some of the cast, as well as a barbecue and bluegrass music.
Mr Le Cheminant, whose memories inspired the work, said: “I still feel the child’s fear in me today.”
The event runs from 15:00 to 21:00, with the screening beginning at 19:00.
