The spiderweb has been removed from Saumarez Park play area in the interests of child safety, as the ropes have started to fray and metal is now being exposed.

Despite Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services indicating a safe replacement is being sought, the Wood Spoon charity has launched a fundraising page to save it.

The ropes [are] worn on the spiders net and therefore [need] replacing,” the charity said on a giving.gg page.

Can you help?

The Wooden Spoon is a rugby charity that raises money for children with disabilities and disadvantages.

It said any donation “no matter how small or large” will see a new net installed. You can find out more ONLINE.
