The ‘Liberation 80’ cavalcade captivated the attention of thousands of people who lined the north of the island, the east cost and St Peter Port seafront.
More than 170 military vehicles departed from La Vaugrat campsite at around 14:00, with nearly 60 vintage cars and 35 tractors joining behind them from Pembroke.
Further along the coast, 40 decorated floats with hundreds of people walking alongside had already left Longue Hougue to travel in convoy to St Peter Port with more than 250 people in the pedestrian cavalcade who walked along the town sea front from Salerie Corner.
The entire cavalcade was organised by Cavalcade Director Jeff Vidamour with Floats Co-ordinator Denise Fawcett.
They said this was the “largest cavalcade” held in Guernsey to date.
Among the vintage cars, military trucks, cars, jeeps, and motorbikes were visitors as well as locally owned and maintained vehicles.
