Julie Watson’s house in Gibauderie features a tribute to each of the 24 sports being competed at this year’s Natwest International Island Games.

David Harry’s front garden in St Martin’s has been decorated in tribute to the Isle of Man team, staying at the nearby Jerbourg Hotel.

Les Clospains Wall – which has its own Facebook page – has been decorated with bunting made out of Guernsey milk cartons and has a ‘cheer board’ where passers-by can add their own words of encouragement to the competitors.

Other properties across Guernsey have also been bedecked in bunting and other decorations including sporting memorabilia as the final preparations are made for the 2023 Island Games.

The Guernsey Island Games organising committee arranged the ‘Decorate your Place’ competition to encourage a carnival atmosphere across the island.

“Thank you to all our entrants for embracing the Games’ spirit and putting smiles on so many faces,” they said.

The three winners will each receive £100 courtesy of an anonymous donor, with £50 donated to a local charity of each winner’s choice.
