21 homes could be built off La Gibauderie – on the area of industrial land that was once home to Itex, GMS, and other businesses over the years.

A planning application has been submitted for La Gibauderie Complex, which is owned by Walter Property Ltd.

Architect Tyrrell Dowinton has drawn up designs for 21 new homes with a mix of two- and three-bedroom properties.

The owners and architects have said this number of properties fits in the with the States guidelines on residential developments.

If they tried to fit any more onto the land available, the space afforded to each home would be reduced.

The proposed design – which can be seen at gov.gg – mirrors properties already in the area, said Tyrrell Dowinton.

The architect also proposed that the new development is built using “a traditional palette of materials” to ensure the new homes are “high quality” and “cost effective”.

Access to the new housing development would be via the existing entry and exit points along Upper St Jacques and La Gibauderie itself. The proposal is that the access on La Gibauderie becomes the entry point, with traffic exiting via Upper St Jacques.

The development plans include two parking spaces per property, with electric car and bike charging points, as well as bicycle parking and visitor car parking spots.
