Jersey maintained cricketing dominance over Guernsey with an eight-wicket win in the 50-over inter-insular this weekend.

Paul Hutchinson, Director of Cricket, said: “This is a really nice result for us, we wanted to go out there and make a statement, which I feel we achieved.

“We spoke about going in and playing hard, and our players really took Guernsey head on to get the win.”

Jersey’s captain Chuggy Perchard described man of the match George Richardson as “outstanding”.

“He’s really come on leaps and bounds, after spending a bit of time on the sidelines and struggling with injuries,” said Perchard.

“He’s worked so hard to get to where he is right now, working a lot on fitness and he’s an exceptional athlete, who really goes in fast.

“It’s great to see him become a really-thinking cricketer, and Jersey has been calling out for class acts in the fast bowling aspect of our game, so it’s brilliant that he’s stepped up.”

Perchard also pointed to the plethora of fast bowling talent rising up the ranks.

“Having more options in this area is a great sign for the future of Jersey cricket, allowing the team to be a lot more adaptable in our approach,” he explained.

“Having more options also opens up more competition, which is always good for pushing players to their best.”
