From vintage fairground rides and live music to military vehicles, food stalls and fireworks, St Peter Port is gearing up for a packed day of Liberation Day celebrations.
The Town seafront is set to transform into one giant celebration zone for Saturday 9 May, with organisers promising “plenty for every generation to enjoy”.
The Albert Pier and Crown Pier will once again become the centre of the action, with family entertainment, food villages, live performances, and late-night celebrations running throughout the day and into the evening.
One of the biggest attractions for younger people is expected to be the Children’s Zone on the Crown Pier, open from 11:00 to 17:00.
Activities will include a skate ramp, climbing wall, face painting, hair braiding, craft tent, go-karts, and the Little Pickles chair-o-plane ride.
Visitors will also be able to meet Royal Golden Guernsey Goats during the day.
Meanwhile, the Albert Pier will host a music stage and food and drink village from 11:00 until 22:30, with food concessions and seating running alongside the day’s entertainment.
A vintage fair will also return with a ferris wheel, carousel, chair-o-plane, and Austin cars after proving a hit last year.
There will be a quiet hour from 10:00 to 11:00 on Sunday 10 May for autistic children and others with sensory needs.
History fans will have plenty to explore too, with vintage lifeboats moored at Victoria Marina and the annual cavalcade of military vehicles, vintage cars, tractors and motorbikes arriving in Town during the afternoon before forming a static display along the seafront.
Castle Cornet will again open free of charge for Liberation Day, hosting live music and entertainment throughout the day.
The celebrations will finish with fireworks from La Vallette at 21:15, expected to be visible from most of the St Peter Port seafront, before the Last of the Light Brigade closes the day’s entertainment at 22:30.
