Commodore Goodwill Condor Ferries

The Commodore Goodwill has joined the Clipper and Liberation in being sold off by Condor.

The 126m freight vessel has been listed for sale in Germany and is also being advertised on shipselector.com.

Launched in 1996, the Goodwill has been serving the Channel Islands ever since.

It has been used as the islands’ main freight carrier during that time, and it also has 12 passengers cabins.

It’s now advertised for sale with a €14,000,000 price tag.

The Liberation has been valued at €24,000,000 while the Clipper is listed with ‘price on request’.

The sale of the vessels is understood to be linked to Jersey awarding DFDS the contract to run its ferry services.

Brittany Ferries became Condor’s majority shareholder last year, and it tendered for the contract to continue running both Guernsey and Jersey’s ferry services.

Guernsey gave Brittany Ferries its contract but Jersey went with DFDS after the joint tender process broke down.

Recently, it was reported that Condor Ferries staff in Poole have been warned of 31 job losses.

The Bournemouth Daily Echo reported that a letter was sent to staff citing the cost of losing the contract for Jersey’s services for the necessary cut backs.

The letter reportedly stated that the contract for Jersey’s ferry services “makes up approximately 60 per cent of the company’s turnover” currently.
