It follows the Guernsey music service donating various pieces of musical equipment to them earlier this year.
Tim Wright, Carmen Craven-Grew and Rachel Wrightwere invited after meeting virtually withHer Excellency The Governor of Montserrat, Mrs Sarah Tucker, and members of the Youth Orchestra.
The summer school highlights the importance of team building, building friendships and enhancing the education of the children within Montserrat.
The initial link was established due to Her Excellency’s time in Guernsey as a youth herself, due to the maternal side of her family being born and raised on island.
Then George Martin a record producer from Guernsey, who had homes in both Guernsey and Montserrat, will be funding travel to Montserrat for the whole event. Funds have also been made available from His Majesty’s Receiver General, for the wider public good of young people in this community.
“This is a remarkable opportunity for both of our islands to forge a further friendship through music and culture,” said Mr Wright, head of the Guernsey Music Service.
“We are hoping that we can inspire the young people we will be working with in Montserrat and am certain that we will be equally inspired by them.”
