Guernsey Water dealt with 74 blockages in 2019 compared to 65 in 2018.

“To protect the marine environment we removed 81 tonnes of material from the island’s wastewater using screens at Belle Greve Wastewater Centre,” said GW’s operations manager, Jon Holt.
“This consists mainly of unflushable plastic items such as wet wipes and we continue to communicate with our customers to advise against putting wipes and fats into the sewer network.”
