The private colleges in Guernsey, (Blanchelande, Elizabeth and Ladies), are all reporting to have achieved favourable GCSE results, with high percentages of students gaining top grades and passing their exams.

At the Ladies’ College, students managed to achieve impressive GCSE results, with 100% passing both Maths and English.

Over half of all grades were A*/A equivalents – grades 9-7 – and over 98% of students earned 5 A*-C equivalent grades (9-4).

Principal Daniele Harford-Fox praised the students’ dedication and hard work: “I’m incredibly impressed with the achievements of this year’s GCSE cohort and the fantastic results they have earned. The girls have shown dedication, focus and determination in preparing for these exams, and I could not be prouder of them.

“At The Ladies’ College, we know that GCSEs are not just about memorising facts or perfecting exam technique. They are an opportunity for students to develop their own voices, grow in confidence, and build the independent study skills that will support them for years to come.”

Ms Harford-Fox concluded: “While today is about celebrating grades, my greatest pride comes from the progress each student has made on her own journey. That growth, both academically and personally, is what truly matters.”

The Elizabeth College also reported very good GCSE results, with 43% of grades being at the 9-7 level (A*-A equivalent) and 90% at the 9-4 level (A*-C equivalent). 11 students achieved 8 or more top grades.

Principal Jenny Palmer congratulated the students on their hard work and thanked the staff and parents for their support: “I am proud of our students for everything they have achieved.

“This set of results is a credit to their hard work and commitment as well as a reflection of the support they have received from our dedicated staff and their parents.”

She continued: “The majority will go on to study A Levels in the Sixth Form at Elizabeth College whilst others will undertake a variety of pathways including sporting scholarships, joining the army and other vocational training locally.”

Meanwhile Blanchelande College announced “excellent GCSE results”, with nearly a third of all grades at the highest levels (9-7 or A*/A).

87% of students achieved at least five grades at 9-4.

Principal Alexa Yeoman highlighted that these results show the students’ hard work and the school’s inclusive approach: “Blanchelande has a wide ability intake, and we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where every student is supported to reach their potential.

“This year’s GCSE results are especially encouraging, with students again outperforming their baseline scores – a clear sign of their hard work and progress.”

Ms Yeoman added: “As these students move into their next stage of education, it’s an exciting time for them and the future of our Sixth Form. With our brand-new facilities and 24 subject options available at Sixth Form, we’re delighted that so many students are choosing to continue their journey with us.”
