Being run as a free event, it has been organised by the College’s two Chinese tutors and supported by the local Chinese community.

2019 is the year of the pig, and to celebrate it, people can go along to the main hall at the Ozouets campus between 14:00 and 16:00 to enjoy Chinese calligraphy, origami, competitions, and performances from local school children. There will also be the opportunity to find out more about Chinese New Year and the traditions behind it.

A spokesperson for the College said: “The island has been benefiting from the teaching skills of two Chinese nationals for several years and, as Guernsey continues to develop successful business relationships with the region, this event will educate us all about the Chinese culture and traditions and give people of all ages some hands-on experience trying their hand at some traditional Chinese crafts.”

Entry to this event is free, and promises fun for all the family.
