The Herm trip – on the evening of 20 June – got off to a great start with a 20-minute display by a pod of dolphins off Jethou. The party also spotted some puffins during the crossing.
Once they made landfall, the children, some of whom were visiting for the first time, enjoyed a meal at the Mermaid and were entertained by Island FM’s Mark Trenchard, singer and guitarist Jacques Evans, face painter Joni Nettleship, magician Tobi Giles and Daniel the Donkey.
The party danced its way around the island led by Brandi Attewell before sand and shell sculpture competitions.

Bright yellow Smile for Georgie caps were sponsored by the Guernsey Smile Centre, all the children were presented with Herm island piggy banks by Tom Jones, manager of the Mermain Tavern, and the trip was subsidised by Travel Trident.
Annie Le Prevost, Georgie’s sister, said: “It was great to see so many smiling faces, adults as well as children. We’d like to thank all islanders who generously contributed towards this event and we intend to repeat it next summer.”
The family are hoping this will become an annual event with a date for 2019 due to be announced soon.
