It means Herm Island will once again supply porterage services to people arriving to the island and will decommission its two ferries.
Herm Island Limited bought two boats independent of Travel Trident in 2021, seeking to run an alternative ferry service to the Trident.
A spokesperson for Herm Island said there simply aren’t enough staff or customers to make the second ferry service feasible.
Mr Wilcox told Express that the operation of two ferry services has made “things tight” and that the support of the public has been essential.
“If that support hadn’t of been there, we would’ve found ourselves in quite a vulnerable position. I cannot believe they have been so gracious and so supportive.”
Not only will the porterage service return, but there’ll be more winter trips and the Christmas shopping trips will resume.
“We’re back to normal service,” said Mr Wilcox. “Through the new agreement I can only see the benefit for the public.”
When asked about the previously quite acrimonious relationship between Trident and Herm Island, Mr Wilcox said it’s the start of a new chapter.
“Both ourselves and Herm are happy and I really need to start giving Herm Island support now.”
