Anyone booked onto Herm’s ferry services will be transported by Trident and notified of the change and any revised sailing times effective tomorrow (14 June).
The in-island porter service will also return for all guests, with most post and freight to be handled by Trident. Seahorse – Herm’s cargo vessel – will continue regularly shipping larger goods.
Express understands these vessels will not be utilised by Trident.
Covid resulted in the previous contract being cancelled.

A spokesperson for Herm Island said there is not enough staff or passengers to support two ferry companies.
“Herm was not seeking to profit from its new ferry, nor to disrupt Trident’s business, but simply to ensure there was a guaranteed service in place. Now, with a renewed contract, Herm will withdraw its service in the comfortable knowledge that Trident will serve guests, residents & staff during winter & summer, as indeed, post Covid apart, they have for over 50 years,” they said.
“The Isle of Herm ferry and Herm’s back up ferry, the Herm Lass, will cease operations.
“Both the management of Herm Island and Travel Trident look forward to a strong and cooperative renewed partnership and, as ever, to welcoming old & new guests to Herm well into the future.”
Herm Island say that Trident will endeavour to provide employment where possible for staff currently employed on Herm’s ferries.
