Head of Marketing & Communications Adam Bayfield said he was delighted to be able to offer extended opening hours again.
“We hope people will once again enjoy the opportunity to borrow and return books outside normal working hours, as well as using the building as a community and social space,” he said.
“The return of the Late Night Library is also good news for students. If you’re studying for school exams, accountancy exams, or any other qualification, come along and make use of our quiet study space, free WiFi and our coffee machine.”

Mr Bayfield also said that the Late Night Library should be seen as an opportunity for other organisations and charities to make use of the building: “if you run an organisation or club and you’re looking for a venue for an evening event or drop-in, we’d love to hear from you.”
The campaign originally launched in 2019, but was suspended this spring due to the lockdown. To help with the relaunch, patrons of the library will be treated to free tea, coffee or hot chocolate throughout November.
The library will also be hosting events of its own, including a Lego Night in the Children’s Library and a Living History tour of the building. More information on these events is available at www.library.gg.
