The service will be run by the independent charity Crimestoppers and will give the public an anonymous and confidential route to reporting concerns.

The service gives people the ability to anonymously report staff or officers who:

  • Provide information or influence in return for money or favours
  • Use their policing position for personal advantage – whether financial or otherwise
  • Cross professional boundaries or abuse their position for sexual purposes
  • Abuse or control their partner, or those they have a relationship with
  • Engage in racist, homophobic, misogynistic or disablist conduct, on or off duty, in person or online

Reports can be submitted online or by telephone. That information will then be passed to Bailiwick Law Enforcement’s Professional Standards and Counter Corruption Team.

You can find out more ONLINE.

“Bailiwick Law Enforcement have and will always take complaints from members of the public very seriously,” said the Head of Law Enforcement, Ruari Hardy.

“While our Professional Standards team work very hard to investigate them, we will always welcome additional ways for the public to make reports. I am confident the vast majority of our staff act professionally and in good faith in the course of their duties, but we must always be prepared to deal with those who fall below this standard.

“This Service has come out of the UK, where police forces are striving to make improvements to their complaints processes, and we are committed to learning as much as we can from those improvements. Subscribing to this new service is part of that 2 commitment, as is supporting the review of the Police Complaints Law the Committee for Home Affairs has just announced.”
