The West End’s longest running musical, Les Misérables has been enjoyed by over 70 million people in 42 countries and in 22 languages around the globe and is still breaking box-office records as it passes its 30th year in London.
Adapted from the original epic novel by Victor Hugo which was written on Guernsey, the musical is set against the backdrop of 19th-century France and tells a powerful and moving story of unrequited love, sacrifice, passion, redemption and revolutionary spirit.
And it has returned to Guernsey before, with a GADOC production in 2016. Now, four special performances based on the 10th Anniversary edition of the play will be shown at Beau Sejour on the 1, 2, 3 and 4 of November.
Les Misérables has won a multitude of awards around the globe, and was recently honoured with the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Audience Olivier Award.
It has run on Broadway in three separate productions, and has enjoyed numerous UK tours. An Academy Award-nominated film adaptation of the show was released in cinemas in 2012 starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, and has continued to broaden the appeal of the show.
Les Miserables in Concert will run for four performances only at the Sir John Loveridge Hall in Beau Sejour with a full cast direct from the West End and Broadway productions and a 35-piece live orchestra.
